Check out our keen geographers! Lower Key Stage 2 were practicing their map skills this afternoon. They had to locate Mediterranean countries and their capitals by using grid references. Well done everyone! ...
Did your child smell a bit fishy on Wednesday?
Apologies but yes, we mummified fish! Yes, real, raw fish (eyes and everything)! This is part of our topic on Ancient Egypt. This lesson involved lots of teamwork, following of instructions (without teacher input meaning they had to work together to follow each step) and for many – a lot of bravery in handling the fish! This event was only possible due to the generosity of Hooked Fresh and Frozen Fish and Seafood in Castleford Market (link below). They sourced and prepared the fish for next to nothing and their customer service was second to none, putting the fish on ice for transportation and vacuum packing so Mrs Goddard did not have a smelly fridge and car!
The children will now be completing instructional writing on this exciting event and a few chosen pieces will be published on our Phase Pages on the website, which will be updated shortly.
Thanks for the lovely comments! Just in case anyone is concerned, the 'guts' for the canopic jars were actually strawberry laces and jam but 'shhh' don't tell the children! 🤣🤣
